Following in Microsoft’s footsteps, which also operates a similar beta testing program for its Xbox ONE and Xbox 360, Sony has started allowing people to sign up for the PlayStation software beta testing program. Users can now sign up to test early versions of system firmware before it’s released. You are eligible to sign up if you own a PlayStation 4. Though the users count that will be accepted is limited, Sony warns.
The first batch of beta software will be available to testers in September, which is being called the Next major System Update. Since this is a beta software, if something goes wrong you should be able to downgrade backto the latest stable release.
