Along with the latest update to Valve’s MOBA, Dota 2, they also ‘accidentally’ pushed a text file called hl3.txt. We’re not lying, its actually called that. This might be it. You can find the text file on you own computer if you have Dota 2 installed and updated (or click here to view the file online.)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\dota 2 beta\game\core\tools\help\fgd\hl3.txt
There is more evidence than just a text file, though. Here it is:
The first indication was when the Steam Summer Monster Sale’s mini game finished loading at 109% rather than 100%. Indicating perhaps towards 10/9 (the date, 9th of October).
The Second interesting part is that the date possibly referred to above was the initial release date for the last Half Life game, HL2: Episode 2.
Inside the file there is a lot of interesting stuff. You can view the file yourself (methods mentioned above). Here are some things that stood out.
Combine Turrets mentioned
string m_Id = “Element.npc_turret_ceiling_pulse”
string m_FriendlyName = “npc_turret_ceiling_pulse”
string m_TooltipOverride = “”
string m_HelpText = “Combine Pulse Ceiling Turret”
The following things are also mentioned
- XBox 360
- Procedural generation
- Possible ‘VR Support’
